Icelandic lava has a rough texture without a shell. The uneven holes and uneven surface provide a place for plants to colonise. It is also a natural method of water filtration. The majority of lava rocks are matte, dark in color from black to violet to red. Lava is very light in weight and easy to move to create impressive scenes.
