Softens water and neutralizes visible and microscopic contamination. Removes ammonia, nitrates, nitrates and microorganisms. Also becomes home to nitrifying bacteria which break down biological debris and reduce nitrogen content. It is rich in potassium, which can be used as fertilizer for seaweed.
